Niki Cryan Gallery is a nomadic, international pop-up that specializes in the sale of contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora. Founded in 2018 by Nkechi ‘Niki’ Cryan, it is based in Lagos, Nigeria. The gallery's mission is to highlight innovative emerging artists.
This collaboration is one of my longest continuous projects and has resulted in numerous successes and a wonderful working relationship. From its start, I have driven the development of the brand as a whole. I continue to manage the PR strategy and oversee the production of their international art exhibitions.
The long-term mission was to position Niki Cryan Gallery as a thought leader and innovative force expanding the Lagos art market and art appreciation in Nigeria. In the short-term, the communications strategy was designed to drive attendance to exhibitions and prompt collectors to schedule private viewings; while also building the gallery's profile locally. Instagram and the website are the main platforms used.
PR was the primary focus of the medium-term communications effort. Securing interviews and exhibition announcements in international art publications was critical to increasing brand visibility globally. An extensive email and telephone campaign allowed me to build relationships with editors and journalists in the industry, resulting in solid media coverage and an increased following on social.
